Brunswick City School District

2020-2021 Reopening Plan

20-21 BCSD Draft Reopening Website Version

Situations and scenarios change quickly in light of the impact that Covid-19 has on our community. Therefore, the district has created two possible plans to implement, depending on the impact of the virus:

    • Should the district, in collaboration with our local health department, determine it is safe for students and staff to participate in face-to-face instruction, all students will return to school 5 days a week beginning September 14, 2020. Social distancing and other precautions will be put in place.

    • Please Note: The district will also offer remote, online-learning for families who prefer to keep their students at home. Parents will need to commit to the remote, online-learning for an entire semester.

    • Should the district, in collaboration with our local health department, determine it is unsafe for students and staff to return to school, all students will participate in online learning for the first five weeks of the quarter, beginning September 14, 2020. During this time, the district will monitor the health trends of our community to determine when a return to face-to-face instruction would be appropriate and safe. The target date for a return to face-to-face instruction is October 12, 2020.

Adapt & Adjust

As a reminder, plans are “at this moment," and we will continue to re-evaluate and revise our plans based on evolving conditions, data about the status of the pandemic, and recommendations and guidance from public health authorities.
