Math competitions

The possibilities of competing in athletics are typically well known to most students, however, competing academically might be unfamiliar territory.  Math competitions should be something that students should consider, whether they are fast-paced math thinkers or deliberate, methodical math thinkers.  Problems in math competitions are challenging, but the beauty of arriving at the solution is where the fun truly lies. It is true many competitions are timed, but time should never hold a student back from trying.
