GRADUATION REQUIREMENTS

The North Carolina Department of Education determines Graduation Requirements. A summary of the current requirements for graduation are below.

Graduating Class of 2024 and beyond

Future Ready Course of Study

28 Credits Required

4 sequential English

4 Math 

3 Science (Earth/Environmental, Biology, and Physical Science/Chemistry/Physics)

4 Social Studies (World History, Civic Literacy, American History, Econ/Personal Finance)

1 Health/PE

Concentration Recommended: 

2 Electives (from the same CTE pathway)  or 4 Electives from (ROTC, Arts, PE, World Language, or any cross-disciplinary courses)

Erwin High School also awards "Graduating  with Honors" in the following areas:

Honors - GPA 3.5-3.9

High Honors - GPA 4.0-4.24

Highest Honors - 4.25 or higher

This is calculated based on 7 semesters of coursework (excludes Spring semester before graduation).

CTE Honors - GPA 3.5 or higher, completion of a CTE Pathway plus one additional CTE course, and no OSS in their senior year (through 7 semesters)
