October 5 & 6- Teacher Workdays- No School

October 8- Herff Jones here during lunches for Students to purchase Cap and Gowns- the cost is $65.22 for just the cap and gown package. Students can also order graduation announcements, letterman jackets, class rings and senior gear. Students who are MYG MUST order their cap and gown in October!!!

October 13- Financial Aid Night at Erwin in the Auditorium from 5:30 -7:00 PM. College for North Carolina representative Devon McCarthy James will be here to talk about the financial aid process, Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA) and other ways to pay for College. Ryan Radford from Herff Jones will also be here so parents and students can order their cap and gowns. Interpreters will be available!

October 14- Buncombe County Schools Financial Aid and FAFSA Night at the County Office from 5:00-7:00. CFNC and local college financial aid experts will be available to help with completing RDS, FAFSA and other forms necessary for college admissions. There will be interpreters, snacks and door prizes available!

October 19-25- College Application Week- LOTS of College Applications are free this week! Check out this list to see if the schools you are applying to will be free!

October 20 from 6:00- 8:00 PM- Navigate to ETSU at The Draftsman Lounge at The Restoration Hotel- An opportunity for your students to learn about ETSU, hear from admissions staff, have dinner, and have fun with ETSU students. Please have any student who might be interested in joining us register at ETSU meet and greet at the restoration station in asheville at navigate

October 21- College Application Day for Seniors at Erwin. All seniors will receive help completing college applications on this day. 

October 23- FAFSA Friday- Seniors at Erwin and their families can sign up for an appointment HERE to receive help from financial aid specialists on completing the Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA). This is the first step in making college an affordable option! Here is a list of the items you will need to bring to your 

• SSN (if you have one)

• Tax return for you and your contributors (parents or spouse)

• Child support (if applicable)

• Savings, checking, investments, and other account balances. Note: Home value and retirement-specific account balances do not need to be included.

• Estimated value of a family business or farm

• Email address for each contributor associated with their StudentAid.gov account

October 28, 2026- Senior Picture retakes!

October 30, 2026- Early Release Day and Erwin’s trunk or treat event!
