Summer Opportunities

Buncombe County Schools Summer Academy

SUMMER ACADEMY typically occurs in June and July and offers students the opportunity to take one or two courses each session that they have failed before and new credit courses (first time courses for new credit).

CREDIT RECOVERY COURSES - You can take multiple courses each session. If you only need one or two credit recovery courses you may choose either Session One or Session Two. If you need more than two credit recovery courses you will need to register for both sessions. Also, if you only need two credit recovery courses, you can register for mornings only for both sessions or afternoons only for both sessions. Once you have successfully completed an online credit recovery course you can stop attending Summer Academy. In other words, the end date is dependent upon your effort.

TEACHER TAUGHT FULL CREDIT COURSES:

Summer Academy also offers teacher-taught courses for students who need first time credit and have not failed the course and for those students who feel they would best learn in a teacher-taught class versus computer-based instruction.

Registration is done online in late May and early June.
