 Please reach out to your CHS School Counselor to start planning.  We will guide you through each step in preparing, applying, and attending college. no matter your grade level!!!

Steps for Applying to a 2-Year College or 4-Year University


1. If you plan to attend a 4-year University, make sure you are enrolled or have taken 2 years of the same foreign language and Math 4 to meet the enrollment requirements.  If you plan to attend a 2-year college or technical/trade school, you are not required to take 2 years of the same foreign language or Math 4. 


2.  Set up a CFNC account, https://www.cfnc.org/


3Once you have set up a CFNC account, go to the apply to college tab, select the Application Hub and select the NC college you want to apply to (ex: ABTech), then begin the college application.  


3.   Complete the Residential Determination Service Application, https://ncresidency.cfnc.org/residencyInfo/

(This uses the same Login information as your CFNC account)


4.  Complete the FAFSA

5Begin applying to scholarships with the help of your school counselor.

Your high school junior year is the best time to explore the possibilities ahead of you - whether those possibilities include college, travel, or a career. Now is the time to ask questions about your future, shadow a job, take the SAT/ACT, visit colleges, take interest surveys, and start talking to your School Counselor!!!!!!
