Randi Neglia
My name is Randi Neglia and I have been teaching in the Bedford Central School District since 2004. I have a stepson, Peter, and a daughter, Amanda, who keep me busy outside of school.
Over the course of my time in Bedford, I have taught fifth grade for six years, third grade for two years, and the remainder teaching fourth grade. Prior to working for the BCSD, I taught fifth grade for three years for the NYC Department of Education. Fourth grade curriculum has always been my favorite! I love how it is centrally focused on NYS, which allows the children to learn about all of the rich history that has taken place in their backyard!
I believe a classroom environment is one in which a child should feel safe taking risks, gain a sense of independence and responsibility, and form positive relationships with other children and adults. I believe that every child has the potential to thrive when given the tools and choices necessary for learning. Academically, socially, and emotionally, each child should be looked at as an individual among their peers. I always do my best to provide an enriching experience that will enable all of my students to grow and reach their potential.
When I am not teaching, I love spending time with my family and vacationing at the beach. I love technology and am known to be the family photographer at all family functions. If you don’t have a picture, it never happened!
Mrs. D’Urso has been a dedicated educator at PRES since 2006. She began her journey in third grade and has since found her true home teaching fourth grade. In addition to her classroom role, she is an active member of the school community—serving on the RULER committee, representing grades 3–5 at RTI meetings, and proudly acting as the BTA representative for PRES.
Before joining PRES, Mrs. D’Urso took time off from teaching to raise her two children, Ray and Jenni, as a full-time stay-at-home mom. Now both college graduates and living on their own, she has adjusted to life as an empty nester. She shares her home with her beloved cat, Rocco, and her husband, Raymond, who enjoys cooking delicious Italian meals for the family. The D’Ursos love skiing in Vermont during the winter and relaxing at the beach in Long Beach Island (LBI) in the summer.
Earlier in her career, Mrs. D’Urso taught first and third grade at Lakeview Elementary in the Mahopac School District, where she developed a passion for teaching young children to read. Today, she finds great joy in helping her fourth graders master multiplication, division, and foundational math skills.
Outside of school, you’ll likely find Mrs. D’Urso floating in her pool with a good realistic fiction book, watching home renovation shows, or shopping for clothes and shoes with her daughter and mom. She treasures spending time with her lifelong friends over lunch and enjoys planting flowers in pots on her decks—safe from hungry deer! Her favorite color has always been purple, and she has a deep appreciation for all types of music.
