Classroom Feedback Overview.webm

Feedback is defined as comments that help a student improve their work. The days of writing feedback on a paper and students tossing that paper are over because feedback on Google Apps can not be tossed.

Feedback can be given on the Doc, Slide, Drawing, etc, or it can be added to the Private Comments. Feedback can be typed or a short video. The teacher and student can have a conversation while the student is working. This can improve student learning and also respects the teacher who works during contract time. Not only that, both assignments AND scores can be imported into Aeries in two clicks.

Feedback - Whole-Class Google Slides.webm

Give Feedback While Students are Working - Slides

Why open 20-30 documents when you can open just ONE whole-class slide deck?

Option 1 - Use Alice Keeler Drive Roster to Slides to add your class roster. I modified the code for my class.

Option 2 - Create a whole-class Google Slides in a Classroom assignment and have the students add their own name.

You and the students can write comments on individual slides using the shortcut CTRL + ALT + M.

Use Private Comments to Communicate with Students

Require students to leave you a message when they complete an assignment. Then leave PRIVATE COMMENTS for feedback in the same section.

Feedback with Screencastify.mp4

Create a Short video to help explain feedback to students

Use Screencastify to quickly record a video (Desktop/Camera) to model and explain feedback so students. This practice is especially important for non-readers, EL learners, or any students who do better with being shown versus having to read feedback.

Rubrics give students and teachers clear expectations about learning activities. A teacher can create a rubric in Google Classroom, reuse a previous rubric, or (my favorite method) import a rubric.

Import a Rubric

  2. When creating a Google Classroom assignment, select +Rubric.

  3. Click Import from Sheets

  4. Locate the rubric in Google Drive and select Add.

  5. Click Save.

Make a copy of the rubric
