Adding Assignments to Aeries

Add First Assignment.mp4

Add First Assignment

  1. Look for the word Assignment. The word appears on multiple pages such as the Gradebook Dashboard, Manage Gradebook, and Scores by Class.
  2. Give the assignment a name.
  3. Change the category as desired.
  4. Type Number Correct Possible. When you tab over, that number is added to Points Possible.
  5. Select Save and Close at the bottom of the window.

Because I linked/group Period 1, Period 3 and Period 5 English classes, I only had to create the assignment once for all three classes.

Different Views of Gradebook Dashboard

The Aeries Gradebook Dashboard can be viewed as Tile, List, or Table. Personally, I prefer the Table view because it requires few clicks to open Class, Assignment, Student, Management Gradebook, and Add Assignment.

Adding an Assignment from the Dashboard.webm

Add an Assignment

On the Gradebook Dashboard, you should see the phrase Add Assignment on the far right. If you see Categories, then you need to add at least ONE category first.

  1. On the Gradebook Dashboard, click on Add Assignment.
  2. Type a name for the assignment.
  3. Confirm the Category.
  4. Assign Number Correct Points.
  5. Use the TAB key to jump to the next box.
  6. Click Save and Close.

Add an Assignment to Specified Classes

As a junior high school teacher, I link all three English classes. However, this week we had an assembly and 3rd Period did not complete an assignment. When I add the assignment, I can uncheck the class.

  1. Type Number Correct Possible.
  2. Check Push New Assignments to Selected Gradebooks.
  3. Uncheck the desired class.
Mass assign values to assignment.mp4

Add Assignments with Mass Assigned Value

The quickest way to give students scores is to use a little trick the Tech TLT learned.

  1. After adding the Assignment from the Gradebook Dashboard, click Class.
  2. Do you see the blue arrow(s) on the class roster? The arrow indicates that the student was absent that day. In my example, 4 students were absent.
  3. Wherever you see a blue arrow, type NA. I am sure that there is another shortcut for excused absent, but I use this one.
  4. In the blue bar at the top of the screen, select Assignment.
  5. Select the assignment's name.
  6. Click on the arrow.
  7. Select Mass Assign Values.
  8. Type a number.
  9. Click Save Mass Changes.

All students who were present in class earned 10 points.
