In SY2025, Baltimore City Public Schools partnered with the Johns Hopkins School of Education to conduct research into the perception and practice of outdoor education by City Schools' teachers and staff. 

Although 88% of surveyed staff expressed that outdoor learning was quite/very valuable for students, only 12% say they feel supported by the district in conducting outdoor learning activities.
