Welcome to School Year 2020-2021! We hope that this letter finds you and your family doing well and enjoying the remaining days of summer. I’m extremely excited to lead this class into their 11th grade year and our second of three years together as a class and leadership team. The 11th grade staff and myself, promise to work hard to create initiatives which increase our class’ academic engagement, attendance and promotion, which will ultimately increase graduation rates for this class! This year is critical in your trajectory towards adulthood. Many colleges and career programs view the 11th grade as a year where maturation must occur. They look more thoroughly at your achievement when making determinations for acceptance into their schools and programs. Not to suggest that freshman and sophomore years were unimportant, but their weight is considerably less than this year will be for you.
We will begin this school year virtually. At this time, I'm unsure when we will transition to a hybrid or conventional model. Until then, we must pull together and fight. As aforementioned, the 11th grade team understands the sense of urgency necessary to accomplish this task, but we need YOU to commit individually and collectively. We need you to fight to improve your attendance, your grades, and your behavior because they are important and you are important. We also need you to work collaboratively with us to communicate the classes needs in a two way manner, you to us and us to you. Understand that this year will be a heavy lift but we are all carrying the weight. LIFT WITH US AND WE’LL ALL ACHIEVE THIS YEAR!!
Proud of Your Accomplishments and Fighting for Your Future,
Jonathan W. Smith
11th Grade Assistant Principal
