The community school strategy removes barriers to student success. A community school is a place and a set of partnerships between the school and community-based resources. Community schools are engaged and work in partnership with families to ensure students succeed academically and in life. Community Schools have been a part of Baltimore City for more than 15 years.
In 2023-2024 there are 155 Community Schools
99 with community-based Lead Agencies
56 with City Schools as the Lead Agency
Lead Agencies are organizations that hire the community school coordinator and partner with the school to support the implementation of the community school strategy and supervise the coordinator.

Each City Schools policy has two parts: the policy and the administrative regulation. The Policies are the written principles formally adopted by the Board in order to manage City Schools. Administrative Regulations are directives adopted and issued by the CEO that provides specific instructions related to the implementation of a Board policy. Most policies have a three letter code (e.g. Community Schools is ADH). You can use this code to search for the policy and related information on the BoardDocs website.
