7th-grade female students from Commodore John Rodgers E/M, Franklin Square E/M, and Roland Park E/M explore careers in aviation through flight simulations, engaging with female professional pilots from the military and the airline industry, and mentoring through Poly High Schools' JROTC program led by Cadet Ava Lewis.
The primary goals of Empowerment Through Aviation (E.T.A.) are empowering Baltimore’s young women, providing exposure to the joys of flight, building self-confidence, and providing access to careers in aviation.
E.T.A is an initiative in memory of Brigitte Jacobson, an accomplished aviator, activist, artist, and mother, dedicated to helping young women live up to their potential.
We value the voices of our students, teachers, school based staff and partners. If you would like to share a recent story highlighting our students as they prepare for college and careers, or share a relevant opportunity or event, please send us your submission.
