City Schools managed iPads currently have two configuration options:

Classroom (student use): AppleID is grayed out. Teachers must put in HEAT tickets to push apps to student iPads.
Administrator (teacher use): AppleID is available for teacher sign-in and app installation.
Student iPads
Student iPads
Students do not currently log into iPads. However, teachers may want students to log into specific apps on iPads. If iPads are shared and students are using apps that require sign-in, teachers should ensure that students are logging out of each app after each session. If students are using Google apps in a shared iPad environment, be sure students understand how to manage their accounts and prevent unwanted access.

Clever is automatically pushed to all student iPads. When accessing apps that require authentication using the Clever portal, students should open the Clever app, then click the desired app from within Clever. It is necessary for students to log out of Clever following the session.
*Note: Teachers can log students out of Clever applications via the teacher Clever portal!

Teacher/Administrator iPads allow sign-in to the device using an Apple ID. Teachers can request a City Schools Managed Apple ID for school use by contacting the Call Center or submitting a 'New Incident to ITD' HEAT ticket. Teachers can sign in with a "for work" consumer ID in order to install and evaluate apps. Do not sign in with your personal Apple ID.

It is important that teachers log in to teacher/admin iPads with Managed AppleIDs to prevent students from logging into the iPad and locking the device.

Students and Staff log into Macbooks and iMacs with their regular City Schools network usernames and passwords.
When prompted to sign into Apple iCloud, it is recommended that students skip this step.
Teachers can sign into Apple iCloud using a City Schools Managed Apple ID. Teachers must request a City Schools Managed Apple ID for school use by contacting the Call Center or submitting a 'New Incident to ITD' HEAT ticket. Teachers should only sign in with a personal ID in order to install and evaluate apps
