Iliad Character Designs
As part of my dream goal to one day create an anime-style adaptation of Homer's Iliad, I've started working on sketching character design ideas for my different characters.
Patroclus

A full-blooded human whom history remembers as Achilles' best friend, but in the text, he is clearly the only being Achilles cares about aside from himself.
Achilles

A demi-god with a sea goddess mother and normal human father. Blessed with being 'swift-footed' and thus being the fastest warrior to have ever lived.
Thetis

Achilles' mother who is also a sea goddess. It wasn't her choice to have a child with a human man, but she still loves her son dearly.
Paris, Helen and Aphrodite

Paris is the young handsome prince of Troy whom Helen, the most beautiful woman in the world, left her husband, Menelaos, for. Thus a thousand Greek warrior ships were launched to invade Troy to rescue her (and plunder Troy). This scene is based on Book 3 when Paris, having lost to Menelaos, but escaped being killed, gets comforted by Helen. Aphrodite, the goddess of love who orchestrated Helen's kidnapping by Paris, is satisfied with her control over both these mortals.
Agamemnon

Agamemnon is the supreme commander of the Greek army who has orchestrated their full-scale invasion of Troy. He says it's to bring back his brother Menelaos' lost wife, Helen, but he talks about ransacking the wealth of Troy often. Achilles also insults him by calling him 'dogface' when he gets angry.
Paris and Menelaos

Paris defends himself behind his Trojan shield from Menelaos' spear throw during their duel in Book 3 of the Iliad.

In a pinch, she can channel nature's powers of destruction to transform into a gigantic plant-based mecha - the Grandmagelion.
Karexa

A green Dragonborn sorceress that grew up in the circus as a freak exhibit before running away to find her place in the world.
The Dark Wing

An Aarakocra crow man who used to be a vigilante hero of justice until he was driven mad by ever penetrating gaze of the Eye. To escape its gaze, The Dark Wing tore out his own, but he's still unable to escape the prison he's been locked within.
Taeryn
CLASS: Paladin

Though he carries demonic blood as a tiefling, Taeryn was raised in a monastry to always protect the weak no matter what. The priests who raised him were unfortunately unable to explain to Taeryn anything about his heritage, so he is completely ignorant of how others perceive him.
The Rose Princess & The Dragon Knight

My would-be contribution to the Romantasy genre but with a gender-bend twist. A beautiful (yet conceited) princess and a strong (yet unempathetic) knight initially don't get on at all. Until a witch's spell causes them to transform into a handsome prince and an agile female knight, respectively. By having their gender changed, they gain an understanding of how society's expectations have moulded their strengths and weaknesses. They become better people through this experience and are finally able to relate to each other by the end of the story.
Viking RPG Character Designs
As part of the Oxford University Historical Re-enactment society, I was involved in a RPG game set in the Viking era. I drew the character designs of the players.
Erlingar, Bjornbjorn and Bjarna

Erlingar is a half-blind druid with superb knife skills. Bjornbjorn is a bear hunter and Bjarna is a bear.
After killing Bjarna's mate, Bjarna got attached to him as her new one.
Thorkatla & Artewulf

Thorkatla is a blacksmithess who doesn't hesitate to whack a bear with a hammer.
Artewulf was raised in the wild by wolves, frankly wishes they had never left.
High School Character Designs
Assorted characters from different storylines I had in mind - but which would all be based in a high-school setting.
Fyodor & Esther

Imagine the angry insecure protagonist from Dostoevsky's 'Notes from the Underground' but when he was a teenager and put in a highschool rom-com anime.
Now imagine Esther from Sylvia Plath's 'The Bell Jar' as she is when she is an extremely depressed teenager.
Now imagine if they were in the same class and what would happen when an unstoppable force (Fyodor's rage) meets an immovable object (Esther's depressive slump). Either they would really help each other or completely make each other worse.

The perfect high school boy failure - unpleasant, NEET, no friends.
These two students have never actually been witnessed to exist in the same place at the same time as each other. In fact, now that you think about it, they look kind of similar... it's also odd that they have the same surname... must be an odd coincidence.
The concept of this pair of characters came from the brain of my writer friend, Alex Schweich, but I did the visual design for them.
