What my dream desk set-up would be like, surrounded by my wide range of interests, all drawn or using photos all made by me.
Hi, my name is Elika! I have analysed stories in five different languages (Ancient Greek, Latin, Arabic, Japanese and English, of course) spanning over two thousand years, and I think there is nothing more important than creating timeless, universal tales which can teach something new to audiences of all ages. I am excited to be part of your team to learn all I can about the magic of telling stories through audio-visual media from pre- to post-production.
My long-term dream goal is to direct films based on scripts I have written and storyboarded. I have ideas for both live-action and animated films and TV series. My ideal next step would be working in a live-action or animation studio, particularly in a production role, gaining first-hand valuable industry experience and elevating my skillset.
I grew up watching mostly a lot of Japanese anime which I was introduced to pretty much from birth as I am half-Japanese and half-English. Watching anime was a way for me to stay in touch with my cultural heritage as I grew up in the UK. My passion for promoting Japanese anime led me to found the official Oxford University Anime Society during my undergraduate degree there.
This undergrad degree I've just graduated from was in Classics with Arabic. I grew up reading Classical Greek myths and was introduced to Ancient Greek drama and philosophy by my English grandfather who was a Classics Academic. Studying these ancient texts at university has given me a lot of inspiration. I want to bring the timeless appeal of these texts to modern audiences so we can better appreciate and understand our shared cultural foundation and landscape. I think adapting these texts into live action and/or animated films and TV series will be the best way to do this.
