Playing time is earned and is the decision of the coaches.
Your attitude may determine your role within the program.
Inappropriate behavior at practice and/or games and/or school will result in punishments/extra duty given by the coaching staff. You will not talk back to coaches, be sarcastic, or engage in behavior that puts you above the team. Also, when a coach speaks, you don’t.
The Buckeye Central High School Handbook will be followed regarding disciplinary action.
Nobody is above the TEAM. The difference between winning and losing is often as simple as playing together as a TEAM.
Be on time for every practice, scrimmage, game and related function.
Attend all practices, scrimmages, games, and related functions unless given PRIOR approval by the head coach. Consequences may include loss of playing time.
If you are at school, and must miss practice, you MUST communicate with Coach Jensen or Coach Pope. Do not tell a teammate to tell the coaches. If proper communication isn’t used, you will have extra duty and/or have a loss in playing time. Also, if an absence would be unexcused for school, it isn't excuseable in our program.
Show proper respect for everybody involved with the baseball program.
Jerseys need to be tucked in at ALL times during games and your hat is always worn the correct way.
Practice pants and hats must be worn at all practices. Not wearing proper practice gear will result in extra duty..
Take care of locker room, equipment, and uniforms. These are yours for three months. Take care of them. NEVER throw equipment!
Players must ride the bus to and from all away games. If there is a conflict to where an athlete must not ride the bus, prior approval must be granted, as well as a written request (Parent Square) from the parents only. If given permission, student-athletes may not go home with anybody but their PARENTS.
Disruptive classroom behavior may result in loss of playing time. The punishment is to the discretion of the coach.
Always be prepared to go outside for practice. Always bring warm clothes to go outside. Sleeves MUST be worn at all times unless given permission. If we go outside, practice will be after school. Being late to practice because you forgot to bring warm clothes is not acceptable.
All players are responsible for the equipment.
Please communicate with the coaches if you are unhappy with anything to do with baseball, coaches, school, or anything else in your life. My door is ALWAYS open. Feel free to talk to any coach on a one and one basis. Be open and honest with your concerns.
Give maximum effort every game and practice. This includes hustling on and off the field at all times.
Swearing is not allowed at any time. Umpires will eject players for swearing without a warning. Don’t do it!
The head coach has the final say in matters concerning the baseball program.
The coaching staff has the right to cut any player.
Extra duty and/or loss of playing time can be given for any type of violation at the coach’s discretion.
Do what is right. Behave in a manner that your family, your community, and school can be proud of you.
