School norms really set the tone for the kind of behaviors students are expected to receive and uphold towards others when they enter the school. The SEL team is tasked to regularly assesses climate (through observational data, surveys, etc.) and meets regularly to plan improvement efforts based on data. Schoolwide norms, shared agreements, routines, and procedures support the school’s SEL vision and climate. See examples of helpful school norms below:

PBIS teams are aimed at determining what underlying issues are causing a school environment that is not welcoming, inclusive, respectful and free from bullying. By collecting data on what kind of behaviors are being reported when, where, by who and how frequently, these teams provide valuable information to help administrators uproot such behaviors.
