Scott Seider, Associate Professor of Applied Developmental Psychology, Boston College

Scott Seider is an applied developmental psychologist at Boston College whose research focuses on the role that educators can play in fostering young people's civic development and critical consciousness. He is the author of three books including Schooling for Critical Consciousness: Engaging Black and Latinx youth in Analyzing, Navigating, and Challenging Racial Injustice (2020) that report on the promising practices of educators committed to supporting their students' positive development in these areas. At Boston College, Dr. Seider teaches undergraduate and graduate courses focused on adolescent development, transformative teaching and learning, qualitative research methods, and social oppression and transformation. He previously worked as an English teacher in the Boston Public Schools and as a teacher educator at Boston University. Dr. Seider also currently serves on advisory boards for a number of different youth-serving organizations including Expeditionary Learning (EL) Education, the Journal of Adolescent Research, Character.org, and the Center for Parent & Teen Communication.

• Administer your equity survey created from Data Driven Equity I again before April Break so you have two sets of data.

• Use the tutorial materials below to clean up both sets of data before the session. The tutorial is a powerpoint with embedded audio on each slide. You will likely need to download the powerpoint to play the audio easily. Please send your completed, cleaned up data sets to Cristin at berrypiz@bc.edu by April 22nd. Please don't send the sample data - send your survey data once you have "cleaned" it up using the tutorial below. If you need additional support, you can email Cristin directly.

• Complete the LLA Fellows Pre-work Data Driven Leadership II Questions on the google site.

• Optional: Complete focus groups or interviews related to your EII to collect additional qualitative data from students or staff.

If you need assistance with the data clean-up, Cristin will hold some Office Hours at the following times to support:

• Tuesday, April 12th 3:30-5:00pm

• Friday, April 15th 8:00-9:30am

• Thursday, April 21st 8:00-10:00am
