A Typical Day

Circle Time

Children sit as a group to discuss monthly highlights, listen to stories, and introduce color, shape, letter, and number concepts. The calendar is reviewed to reinforce math concepts. During circle time, children practice appropriate listening and speaking skills.

Centers & Small Group Language Arts

Exploration in centers includes sensory play, block building, process art, home living, science, and manipulative exploration. All toys provide gross and fine motor development and are rotated on a regular basis. Children are provided age-appropriate opportunities to enhance their social-emotional and motor skills. Teachers engage one-on-one with children during playtime and through art projects. In small group language arts, children develop early literacy skills by playing games that incorporate oral language development, print awareness, phonological awareness, and alphabetic principle.

Recess

Gross motor time in the gym or on the outdoor playground. During this time, children enjoy playing and interacting with one another and teachers.

Lunch

Children eat together with lunch provided from home. We encourage conversation and good table manners.

Centers & Small Group Math

Free play at the tables or on the floor prompt children to enhance their imagination, problem-solving skills, and social interactions in age appropriate ways. Children continue to explore and discover in learning centers. In small group math, children play games that incorporate number sense, graphing, measurement, patterning, shapes, and sorting.

Dismissal

Parents pick up outside the Welcome Center via car line.
