Hello new Thunderbird Family Members!

I would like to take a moment of your time with some of the information you might find useful for your transition to Tyndall Academy. Our small (but growing!) school is very close and we are really glad you are joining us. We have received students this year from some far away places but as anyone on campus will tell you, even if you move away: "Once a Thunderbird, Always a Thunderbird!"

Tyndall Academy Basics

• Drop off line begins at 6:55am

• Pick up line begins at 1:50pm

• Current BDS Calendar

• Face-to-face meetings are back! (Virtual meetings are still available)

• Students are responsible for their own supplies

• Dress code is available here

• BDS Student Code of Conduct

Attendance

• Mrs Stephine Alexander handles all absence excusals

• Excused absence notifications must be made within 24 hours

• Email Mrs Alexander or call the office at 850-767-1714

• School starts promptly at 7:20am

Focus/Parent Portal

• Grades for each class

• Attendance for each class

• Contact information (Parent/guardian's responsibility to keep viable contact information updated)

• Please check WEEKLY as updates are made regularly

Assignment Notification = CANVAS

• Check Canvas (parent app pairing instructions here)

• Students should also refer to their planner!

PTO

• Meets regularly in the Media Center

• Next meeting is in August, date is TBD at 2:00pm

Chromebook Reminders

• Students are to bring a charged Chromebook each day (*tiered consequences for not having a charged device each day)

• Chargers are to stay at home ($25 replacement fee)

• Students are to charge Chromebooks at home only

• Issued to students after parent completes the Chromebook Contract located in Parent Portal/Focus

• Checked out on Aug 11th and returned in May 2023

Chromebook Contract (located in Focus/Parent Portal)

1. Log in to Focus

2. On the left menu, select Forms

3. Select Chromebook Contract

4. Read and watch

5. To sign, select your student from the drop down menu (some info will be automatically filled in)

6. Select "Yes" bubble

7. On the pop-up menu, re enter your login credentials

8. Click the green "Authenticate"

9. Sign with your mouse

10. Click "Save"

11. Scroll down, select "Submit Request"

Cellphone

• Must be off and in a backpack

• No use during the day

• May be turned on after 1:50pm

• TA is not responsible if the device is lost or stolen

• Our recommendation is to leave them at home!

Please let me know if you have any questions. We hope the first few days have been full of information but warm and welcoming. The middle school team is very responsive to emails and happy to set up phone conferences/Google Meets to discuss your child's progress.
