COURSE DESCRIPTION
This is a lab-based class where students ask questions, develop and use models, plan and carry out investigations, analyze and interpret data, use mathematics and computational thinking, construct explanations, and engage in argument from evidence. Course content follows a two-year rotation, covering the 7th and 8th grade science standards.
Students will work as scientists—asking questions, collaborating on investigations, testing ideas, analyzing evidence, and using what they discover to explain the world around them. Rather than simply memorizing scientific facts, we will focus on curiosity, problem-solving, and using evidence to understand how and why things happen.
WHAT WE WILL STUDY
Geology
Earth’s Resources
Ecosystems
Matter
Chemical Reactions
Engineering Design is incorporated throughout the year through projects, investigations, and labs.
CURRICULUM & RESOURCES
Our primary curriculum is Amplify Science, supplemented with resources from CK-12, Generation Genius, Edpuzzle, and other materials. Hands-on investigations, labs, models, interactive activities, and projects are incorporated throughout the year to support scientific inquiry and understanding.
