Cursive and Keyboarding

June 3, 2020

Well, we've made it (almost) to the end of the school year. Our last official day for students is June 12. It has been a pleasure working with all of you, and getting to know so many kids and families. I hope you all enjoy your summer--keep practicing your cursive and typing!

Hi Cursive and Keyboarders!

Hope you are all taking the time to practice those cursive writing skills.

I can see that there are quite a few of you who have not practiced keyboarding at all during the month of May--let's get on to typing.com and practice!

Congratulations to our top typists for the month so far--these are the people who have spent the most time practicing: Elijah, Gaur, and Amelia. Well done!

Hi Everyone! I just wanted to recognize those kids who have been working hard on their keyboarding--it is making a difference! Congratulations to Olive, Maddie, Lucia, Gar, Amelia, Micah, and Elijah! Special shout-out to Noah who is our fastest typist at 17 words per minute! Well done, kids!

Hi Families! Don't forget to practice your typing skills on Typing.com!

April 21, 2020

Hello Families!

I hope you are all hanging in there during this unique social distancing time.

I have been monitoring student progress on typing.com and am pleased to see that most of you have been getting some typing practice in each week. For those of you who have not, please consider trying it out. 10-15 minutes a day works wonders!

Please let me know if you have any questions or if I can help with anything!

Hello Families!

I hope you are all doing well and figuring out a way to navigate our new normal! It has been a very busy week for me, and all of our staff, as we have tried to figure out how best to serve our families from home! Fortunately, families at RHL are pros when it comes to learning at home, and I'm sure you have kept up with the routines you have established throughout the year.

Below you will find my schedule for the next couple of weeks. I will be using planning time to check on typing.com for your child's progress. (If they can just practice their typing 10 minutes a day, that would be great!) Then on Wednesday afternoon I will be sending an email to you just to check in. Please let me know that you got it, and anything else you would like to share with me. If the kids want to say "Hi", I will be live in front of my computer and would love to have a little email chat with them--I miss them, and have enjoyed hearing from a couple already! Keep encouraging good handwriting skills--I am looking for practice pages for you to print off if you need them.

Stay healthy and enjoy the next couple of weeks!

Hello Cursive and Keyboarding Families,

We are making good progress in class! The kids are doing a great job with their cursive, and we have been practicing lower case letters and words. They are taking their work very seriously, and are so focused when they are writing!

We are also continuing to practice typing on either typing.com or typing club. If your student is having difficulty accessing typing club from your home computer try going to https://homelink-river.typingclub.com/signup/UK9HDQP and see if that works for them. The class code is UK9HDQP.

Hello Cursive and Keyboarding families!

Well, we made it through our first class! We began working on lower case "c"--one of the "wave" letters. This week we will learn lower case c, a, and d and begin using those letters in words. We will focus on learning the top line, mid line, and base line in a writing space, and make sure we understand where letters sit on the writing space.

Hopefully, we will be able to get logged into our Chromebooks and start working on Typing.com. Watch for practice pages to come home on Wednesday!

Have a great week!

Kerri Stewart
