1. Brief description and aims of module:
This module aims to consolidate and extend, through theory/practice approaches, a critical awareness, learning outcomes, knowledge and practical skills developed in FTV5002-20: Advanced Studio Production I.
Extra technical and creative skills development, along with more challenging team-based work, is included to help you gain experience in managing complex productions.
All areas will be treated in depth with additional opportunities for skills specialisation, as determined by their evident interests and aptitude.
Where possible there will be opportunities to collaborate with other modules e.g. in order to produce motion graphics, logos, branding and title sequences for television programme(s).

Practice of OB (Outside Broadcast) operation techniques to produce ‘as live’ television programme segments
In-depth integration of graphics into programme segments
Prepare relevant documentation to support ideas for more complex television production, for a specified audience
Independent research to produce of an in-depth interview within a multi-cam studio/OB environment

There will be a greater emphasis (than in Semester 1) on specialisation for the planning an entire project from concept to delivery.
The aim here is to handle at least one major production challenge; a live event (actual or simulated) or one scripted and fully pre-produced item.
Both will make full use of the BSU’s large multi-camera studio facilities and there will be an opportunity to incorporate Outside Broadcast practices and the use of Green Screen in your production/practice.
In addition to practice based learning, developing a personal, reflective approach to one’s industry-relevant skills and employability will be encouraged e.g. by way of:
Recognising skillsets within film, television and digital media.
CV & online portfolio development.
Researching into employment possibilities.
Critical reading and note taking.
Critical thinking.
Analytical Writing.
Communicating effectively in the workplace.
Developing a personal approach to creative or visual research (workbook/blog etc.).

The module supports the need for a strong learning culture, providing a climate for continuous development through the fostering of active participation and the generating of a collaborative and individual learning experience.
Formal contact will comprise lectures / seminars and the other, immersive sessions of industry -professional led workshops. During part of this time students will be introduced to new skills and knowledge and have the opportunity to put into practice the skills and knowledge already learned.
