1. Brief description and aims of module:
This module presents you with the opportunity to further develop specialist cutting and construction through the traditional craft skills of tailoring techniques and to apply your creativity and technical skills to a live brief.
2.Outline syllabus:
You will be given a key grounding in different methods and approaches to tailoring and construction techniques, as well as be encouraged to research the background of tailoring, it’s historical context, and its context within contemporary fashion. You will further develop product development skills as well as analysis and evaluating, adapting designs through toiling.
You will also be asked to respond to a tailoring related design brief that meets the aesthetics and target market of an external brand, or a similar professional opportunity (such as a national competition). Taught sessions will support you in developing employment skills such as managing a project. The module challenges you to produce work of an appropriately high standard, and to work with professional discipline. The development of your communication skills will also be supported, utilising narrative and appropriate presentation material.
