1. Brief description and aims of module:
This module enables you to pursue an organizational or managerial role within your respective projects and the activities link closely to the applied activities of the ‘Going Live’ module. These will include planning and logistical activities connected to travel and accommodation, budgeting, liaising with venues regarding technical specs, sound checks, dealing with promoters and agents regarding finance and scheduling, route planning and creating tour itineraries. Although this module, like its sister module ‘Going Live (Tour and Events), adopts an experiential learning model, you will be supported by regular tutorials (these may be Skyped when the project is touring away).
2.Outline syllabus
Planning a live music tour itinerary (route planning, accommodation, sound check scheduling, transport).
Liaising with Live music industry professionals (agents, promoters, venues and sound engineers).
Dealing with finance on a live tour
People management skills
Managing social media strategies relating to tour activity
3.Teaching and learning activities
Engagement with and understanding of current UK music business trends through lectures, seminars and practical work with local venues and organisation of live performance of artists and projects.
