1. Brief description and aims of module:
This module aims to give you experience of working collaboratively as a collective of practicing makers, performers or artists, who will curate, publish and/or exhibit work in a professional context.
The module aims to promote self-awareness, understanding and recognition of personal attributes and skills that will facilitate professional development and career opportunities within the creative sector.
Critical evaluation of issues surrounding personal responsibility, group decision-making, ethics and sustainability will be encouraged.
2.Outline syllabus
At the beginning of the module you will be asked to choose to participate in one of the following options:
exhibiting your work as part of a group in a public gallery space
producing a group publication
undertaking a public performance
You will be expected to produce a piece of artwork to a high professional standard for your group exhibition, publication or performance.
As part of a collaborative project you will be expected to clearly identify your role.
You will be expected to document the progression of the project alongside your research and contextual investigation through a folder of supporting work.
Through individual tutorials you will be encouraged to reflect on your professional ambition and development, to identify skills and ability.
You will be supported in this module through a series of seminars, lectures and practical workshops from staff and visiting professionals involved in the creative industries.
The university’s careers department will deliver seminars and identify opportunities that offer advice to support your individual professional development and planning.
