Factors that might affect control, regulation or metabolic systems will be included. The role of appetite and energy balance will be discussed.
The biological principles underpinning the nature of common conditions will be considered e.g. endocrinology, immunology and genetics will all be covered in detail. Current themes in the study of nutrition will be explored, for example within the fields of nutrigenomics.
3. Teaching and learning activities
Teaching and learning for this module will include a mixture of lectures, seminars, laboratory workshops and tutorials. You will also enhance your learning with directed study.
The lecture programme will introduce the fundamental principles.
