1. Brief description and aims of module:
This module will introduce you to working with existing buildings through intervention, adaptation and reuse. Your design will require detailed contextual analysis, will explore how use, form and significance change over time, and the practicalities of adapting and adding to existing structures.
This module will include design projects resolving proposed changes to a large or complex existing building or site, where your projects will explore how existing structures can be adapted to address changing patterns of form, use and occupation. You will be required to consider the technical detail of your design proposals in collaboration with professionals including structural and services engineers, and conservation specialists.
