1. Brief description and aims of module:

This optional module introduces you to new roles in theatre practice and making such as directing, creative producing and scripting, regarding them as means of broadening the actor’s portfolio. It enables you to widen your application of your core acting skills across a broader range of roles and projects. The module aims to:

• Provide the opportunity to explore the acting process from different perspectives

• Advance your knowledge, strategies and processes for realising text and devised performance

• Extend your understanding and practical application of performing in and creating drama through your own directing exercises

2.Outline syllabus

Although optional, this module offers you the opportunity to advance your understanding of the acting process by exploring it through different filters.  These lenses provide you with further perspectives and a broader understanding of your acting and theatre making practice. This enhances your autonomy as an actor and gives you more insight into the creative process within which acting sits. With this knowledge you can develop the work of module ACT5022-20 and look at how you can extend your actor’s skills set into other cognate areas. These provide you with developmental opportunities in advance of some Level 6 projects, and might also inform your personal strategies post-graduation.

3.Teaching and learning activities

This module explores a range of strategies that stem out from the acting process you have explored in all modules to date. This module therefore provides you with an exploratory space that allows you to develop your skills and/or your interests and career plans 

For this module you will engage with practical classes and then consider the impact of your learning through the creation of a portfolio of work that captures your understanding of your potential as a creative practitioner.
