Below is a list of software that is available to staff and students. The software can be used to analyse your research findings (qualitative and quantitative), and conduct computerised experiments or online surveys.
Students and staff have access to Google Workspace which includes Gmail, Calender, Docs, Sheets, Drive, Slides, Meet and Chat. You will need to be signed in with your Bath Spa account details to access these features.

JASP is an open-source statistics program by the University of Amsterdam. It is a free alternative to SPSS that allows you to perform simple and complex analyses in a user-friendly manner. JASP is available for use in SN.G14, the Psychology labs, or on the bookable Science Department laptops. It can also be freely downloaded to your personal device for Windows, Mac and Linux here.
JISC is an online survey tool designed for academic research that allows you to conduct surveys online. It is easy to use and is GDPR compliant. If you would like to use JISC for an online survey, you can request access here.
Students and staff have access to Microsoft Office 365 which includes Word, Excel, PowerPoint, OneNote, Access and Publisher. Steps to access Office 365 can be found here You will need to enter your Bath Spa student email address and log in using your Bath Spa account details.
NVivo is a software program for qualitative and mixed methods data, allowing you to organise, store, and analyse various data including text, audio, image, and video files. Guidance on how to install and license NVivo on your own computer (Windows and Mac) can be found here.
Pavlovia is the online repository and launch platform used for PsychoPy experiments that allows you to host, share and run studies created in PsychoPy. You can now also design and run survey studies directly through Pavlovia.
Pavlovia can be accessed here but you will need to create your own account if you want to copy and modify existing experiments, create new ones, or manage your online participants and experiment results (you will need to use your @bathspa.ac.uk email to be able to run experiments for free).
PsychoPY is an open-source software package using Python programming language for neuroscience and experimental psychology research. PsychoPy allows you to create interactive experimental studies electronically, which can be run securely online through Pavlovia. PsychoPy can be downloaded onto your personal device here. It is also available for use in SN.G14, the Psychology labs, or on the bookable Science Department laptops.
R is open-source software for statistical computing and graphics. It is available for use in SN.G14, in the Psychology labs, or on the bookable Science Department laptops. R can be downloaded onto your personal device following the instructions here.
R Studio is open-source software for data science, scientific research and technical communication. It is available for use in SN.G14, in the Psychology labs, or on the bookable Science Department laptops. R Studio can be downloaded onto your personal device following the instructions here.
Students and staff have access to RefWorks through the library website. RefWorks is an online research management, writing and collaboration tool, deisgned to help researchers easily gather, manage, store and share all types of information, as well as generate citations and bibliographies. SPSS is a statistical software platform for the management and statistical analysis of social science data. It is available for use in SN.G14 or the Psychology labs, and guidance on how to install and license SPSS on your own computer can be found here.
