 ONLINE PUBLICATION of E-WALL MAGAZINE, ‘HARITPARBO’-Part I AND CELEBRATION OF TEACHERS’ DAY ON 16TH SEPTEMBER, 2020


REPORT


Even the pandemic couldn’t spoil the intentions of our students and they insisted to celebrate Teachers’ Day. Hence on 16.09.2020, the 5th Semester Honours students of the Department of Botany, Basirhat College, belatedly organized an enjoyable program for the teachers of their department on Google Meet. Along with this program, the first e-wall magazine of the department, “Haritparbo”-Part I was inaugurated by the Principal, Basirhat College, Dr. Asoke Kr Mondal on the official website of the department, which was again introduced and inaugurated on the said day. The whole program was coordinated by the HOD, Dr. Ayana Chakraborty.

Programme contained recitation by Md. Najmul Islam, 5th Semester Botany Hons, song by Pranti Sen, 5th Semester, Bio-Sc, Shruti-natak “Calling Bell” by Tamal Mondal and Sutapa Biswas Roy, both 5th Semester Botany Hons students.

Vote of thanks was delivered by Dr. Aruneema Bardhan.


SWOC ANALYSIS

 

Strength

 

1. Teachers’ day is considered as an important day at the Department of Botany and in Basirhat College and is celebrated with full fervor and joy in the department by the students of biological sciences with enthusiasm along with the teachers and non-teaching staff.

2. Students with integrity showcase their talent by performing special cultural programs like dances and singing, recitation, “Shruti Natak” (Audio drama) etc. in honour of the teachers. It integrates the bonding between Student and teacher's relationship.

3. Our teachers are experts in developing web platforms and applications.

4. Publishing e-wall magazine encourages the students in their literary works.

 

Weakness

 

1. The students often are led by hesitant co-learners and they often hesitate to participate.

2. The decreasing number of enthusiastic students seems to be a concern indeed.

3. Since majority of the students are first generation learners, often they face difficulty in producing indigenous writings.

 

Opportunity

 

1. Departmental events like celebration of teachers’ day strengthen relationship between students and teachers.

2. Students can exhibit their writing skills as well as their hidden talents by publishing in the e-wall magazine of the department.

 

 

Challenge

 

1. First most challenge which the department faces is to initiate the approaches among the students.

2. Students often feel shy and are hesitant to ask the teachers which could be looked into.

3. The expenses to arrange the event is often a concern among the needy students.

4. To arrange and organize teachers’ day online by the students in pandemic situation.

5. To edit and check plagiarism of the submission of the students by maintaining psychological stability of the students.


ONLINE CONTEST FOR STUDENTS ON 16TH JULY, 2021


REPORT


An online Contest was held by the Department of Botany, Basirhat College in collaboration with IQAC, on 16.07.2021 on Google Meet. Three events were organized:


Judges’ Panel was set up for each event. On the particular day, at the end of the contest, names of winners were declared, prizes were allotted, and certificates were issued to them. 


SWOC ANALYSIS

Strength:

1.  Students express themselves in different ways as a result their self-confidence grows gradually.

2.  Competitive attitudes are strong enough among the students and they are eager to give their best.

Weakness:

1. Some students are afraid to express themselves so that the weak points remain weaker.

2. Sometimes highly competitive attitudes grow selfishness among them.

Opportunity:

1. These contests are talent searching platform that search new talents among of students.

2. Students have a huge opportunity to express themselves in front of a larger audience.

Challenges:

1. Excessive subject based study tends to give students a tendency to not participate in these contests.

2. Excessive class load in CBCS system is the main hurdle to arrange this contest.


TEACHERS’ DAY CELEBRATION BY STUDENTS ON 12TH SEPTEMBER, 2021


REPORT

The students of the Department of Botany once again organized and celebrated Teachers’ Day online on Google Meet on 12.09.2021. The program was inaugurated by the Principal, Basirhat College. It comprised of recitation by Ankita Ghosh, Dipayan Nath and Md. Najmul Islam separately, song by Tamal Mondal, “Shruti-Natok” (“Bori”) by Tamal Mondal and Sutapa Biswasroy and finally a "Shruti-Natok” (“Pitri-Aggapalon”) by the teachers of the department, Dr. Aruneema Bardhan and Sri Sovan Sengupta.

1. This event has a vast opportunity to increase the vibrancies of the relationship between students and teachers.

2. Students can exhibit their talent in front of their co-learners, the institution and the department.

3. The gaining confidence of the students in organizing such an event in small or medium scale is very useful in their daily and future life.

TEACHERS’ DAY CELEBRATION BY STUDENTS ON 5TH SEPTEMBER, 2022


REPORT

The students of the Department of Botany along with other science departments organized and celebrated Teachers’ Day on 05.09.2022. The program was inaugurated by Dr. Asoke Kumar Mondal, Principal, Basirhat College. IQAC coordinator Shri Niladri Saha and Teachers' Council Secretary, Sri Dinabandhu Barat delivered their valuable speeches on the auspicious occasion. The whole programme was coordinated by Shamim Ahmed, Bishal Mondal and Sunita Das, students of 5th semester. It comprised of recitation by Dipayan Nath and Swaramita Biswas, song by Subhrajyoti Mistri and Rathindranath Pradhan, dance by Chitra Bachhar and Paramita Gaine. Even, the teachers were not left behind from participation. Sri Sovan Sengupta from Department of Botany recited a piece from short story “Jamon Ek Guru ke Ami Dekhechilam” and Sri Arnab Banerjee played a Rabindra-sangeet on his guitar. Last but not the least, the program became most enjoyable when the students arranged a quiz contest involving the teacher members.
