Winter Weather Notes:
As the winter season approaches, we want to be sure that our families and friends of BAMS have all of the information needed regarding weather delays/early dismissals, snow days, and Flexible Instruction Days. Resources to help support students and families on these days are linked below.
*Any time there is a weather-related schedule change, that announcement will be made to families via our school messenger system. That announcement will be sent as soon as it possibly can be sent to families to help provide as much notice as possible.
Weather Delays - If the weather is creating an unsafe travel situation for the morning, a delay may be called. We have a 2-hour delay and a 3-hour delay schedule. Both of those schedules are attached to this email. If there is a 2-hour delay, our day at BAMS will begin at 10:00 am as opposed to 8:00 am. If there is a 3-hour delay, our day at BAMS will begin at 11:00 am.
3 Hour Delay Schedule
Early Dismissals - If the weather creates a situation when it may be dangerous to travel later in the afternoon/evening, there may be an early dismissal. In most situations, we will serve lunch prior to dismissal. Also, in most cases, secondary students are dismissed prior to elementary students.
Snow Days - At times, we will still have a traditional Snow Day. On these days, the students will not be responsible for completing any work online. If this is the case, it will be announced as a Snow Day.
Flexible Instruction Day - The purpose of a Flexible Instruction Day is to allow students to work from home due to a school closure (which will most likely be due to weather). Our District is permitted to use up to 5 Flexible Instruction Days per school year. Using the Flexible Instruction Days prevents us from using snow make-up days and/or helps to prevent adding additional snow make-up days to the end of the school year. On these days, teachers will not be hosting live learning sessions. Instead, they will have work ready and available to students in each of their Google Classrooms. Students should log in to their Google Classrooms as they are able to do so that day and complete the assignments in their Google Classrooms. Teachers will be available via email to help answer any questions from 8:00 am - 3:15 pm. Students will have 2 days to complete the work for one FID (Flexible Instruction Day). For example, if we have a FID on a Monday, all assignments for that day are due by midnight the following Wednesday. Completion and turning in of the work will also count as the students' attendance for that FID, so it is important for your student to complete any assigned work from a FID so that their attendance is counted for that day.
