BAMS LSS Classroom
The students observed the life cycle of a few Monarch butterflies this month. We collected a few Monarch caterpillars from a local milkweed patch and watched them grow. Before we knew it they were in the chrysalis stage, hanging from the top of the net! We kept an eye on the changing colors of the chrysalis, and released the adults after they hatched out. There are still a few more we are patiently waiting on to hatch!
Our classroom also took the opportunity this month to sharpen our cooking skills in support of our friend Rees Stewart, who is battling Leukemia. We offered the teachers a $5 lunch consisting of a soup and sandwich. Everyone helped to gather materials, slice up ingredients, and cook/prepare the meals. They were delivered to teacher lunches and got great reviews. We have done this twice so far, totaling $330 to donate to Rees’ family!
A trip to Ways Fruit farm with friends from the H.S. and Bellefonte Elementary to learn about the apple orchard and the production line.
