School counselors wear many hats, so when working with high school aged students there are a lot of them. Some of those things include teaching career readiness lessons , class schedule changes, academic support, emotional support, and etc. School counselors also meet with students individually to set goals, work on academic plans, and problem solving for those who might need a little extra support. While school counselors do not provide long-term therapy, we do assist students in learning coping strategies to support them during and after the school day. We also connect families with additional resources and outside help. We will continue to provide check-ins with students and offer assistance in anyway we can, and we encourage all students who are struggling to reach out to see us.
