With the theme, Makabago at Angkop na Teknolohiya: Tulong sa Patuloy na Pag-unlad ng Magsasaka at Mangingisda para sa Bagong Pilipinas, the DA-Bureau of Agricultural Research (BAR) readies for the 2nd National Agriculture and Fisheries Technology Exhibition (NAFTE) on 4-6 June 2024 at The Atrium, Limketkai Center, Cagayan de Oro City and to be livestreamed at DA-BAR's official Facebook Page.
The three-day event aims to showcase, promote, and provide a platform for knowledge-sharing of available technologies in agriculture and fisheries developed by partner research for development (R4D) agencies and institutions. Aside from this, the event seeks to establish and strengthen linkages and networks among stakeholders.
A predecessor of the annually conducted Agriculture and Fisheries Technology Forum and Product Exhibition held in Metro Manila, NAFTE was revitalized with a goal to bring the event and technologies closer to who need it the most—the farmers and the fisherfolk in the regions.
For this year, more than 40 exhibitors composed of technology developers and partner R4D institutions shall showcase their products generated from R4D and provide information on their respective services to create awareness on the efforts of the government to support and boost the sector, respectively.
Various stakeholders including regional field offices and attached agencies of the DA, research institutions, state colleges and universities, local government units, non-government organizations as well private sectors are invited and expected to gain access to new breakthroughs, engage in collaborative discussions, and explore partnership opportunities.
Among the highlights of the event are plenary presentations from advocates/researchers/ farmer leaders from academe, local government unit, and private sector to share their insights, contribution and/or best practices in the field of agriculture. Technology adopters of DA-BAR and DA-Northern Mindanao projects will also be recognized.
Second day will feature the ceremonial launching of technologies and the Regional Agricultural and Fisheries Research for Development and Extension Agenda (RAREA), Meanwhile, a seminar series will introduce partner beneficiaries/adopters to discuss the technology and how it created an impact to their lives and the community.
Special awards will be given to the best innovative food and non-food products as well as the best booth exhibitor during the Closing Ceremonies.
The 2nd NAFTE is being organized by DA-BAR in collaboration with the Northern Mindanao Research and Extension for Development Network.
