Portraits

Key Vocabulary:

Observational Drawing: Observational drawing is attempting to accurately represent something as it appears to the eye.

Portrait: A drawing, painting or photograph (or other artwork) of a person.

Proportion: The relationship of one thing to another in terms of size or quantity. In relation to the face, this refers to the facial features being the right size when compared with the rest of the face.

Self-Portrait: A drawing, painting or photograph (or other artwork) done by an artist of themself.

Tone: Degrees of lightness and darkness. Creates a sense of depth and form and makes things appear more three-dimensional.
