Archibald Prize Task

Key Vocabulary:

Art Elements: The "visual ingredients" of the artwork. The artist manipulates these to create different effects or moods. The Art Elements are: Line, Colour, Tone, Texture, and Shape / Form.

Composition: The way things in the artwork are arranged or placed.

Depicts: To represent or show

Interpret: To interpret an artwork means to put together all the different clues within the artwork to explain the meaning. People often interpret artworks differently so there might not be a right or wrong answer, as long as you back it up by providing evidence from the artwork.

Materials: What the artist has use to make their artwork

Subject Matter: What the artist has chosen to depict (show) in the artwork, i.e. what the artwork is actually of.

Techniques: How the artist has used the materials in their artwork.
