JCLC 2023
The ROTC Cadet Leadership Challenge (JCLC) is a program that helps cadets develop leadership, discipline, and teamwork skills. The challenge is completed in only three days and includes physical and teamwork activities that aim to challenge cadets' problem-solving abilities.
Day 1 of JCLC (Junior Cadet Leadership Camp):
On the first day of camp, cadets from three different JROTC programs arrived at the Waimea High School campus. These JROTC programs included H.P. Baldwin High School JROTC, Kapaa High School JROTC, and Waimea High School JROTC.
Upon their arrival, the cadets were divided into two separate platoons.
Both platoons received instruction on land navigation, which included training on both map and non-map methods.
At the end of the day, all the cadets engaged in a platoon competition of tug-of-war, which added a lot of excitement and fun to the day.
Following their activities on the campus, the cadets proceeded to the Waimea Neighborhood Center, where they would be camping for the remaining two days of JCLC.
Day 2 of JCLC (Junior Cadet Leadership Camp):
On the second day of JCLC, cadets started their day early with a session of physical training.
The company embarked on a jog from Waimea High School to Waimea Canyon Middle School and back, combining exercise with teamwork.
Subsequently, they visited the Kokee Air Force Station, where they had the opportunity to learn about the station and its operations.
Upon returning from the station, cadets engaged in hands-on training focused on first aid and drowning prevention techniques, enhancing their practical skills.
