Ag Leadership & Communications

Ag Leadership (S1): This course will help students develop leadership skills with a focus on opportunities within the agriculture industry. Topics may include but are not limited to human relationships and effective communication, decision making and problem-solving, leadership qualities and styles, and ensuring effective completion of group activities. Self-concepts will be developed through situational leadership, principles of people management, goal setting, and belief systems.

Ag Communications (S2): This course introduces the broad field of agricultural communications and allows for the development of knowledge and skill in specific areas related to communications theory and practice. Content includes agricultural communications, news and writing in ag, photography, layout and design, and ethics in agriculture communications. Students will also learn to focus on the personal skills necessary for success in entrepreneurial ventures within the agricultural industry. Topics include setting goals, assessing and solving problems, evaluating financial progress and success, and business planning. Content will also include marketing and broadcast journalism in agriculture.
