- Pre-teach students how to use the "Speak" feature on the iPad. Show students that they can access a single word or a phrase.
- Pre-teach students how to access Google Classroom.
- Sometimes words are not recognized by the iPad, when this happens tell students to select a phrase of words and the iPad will read the text correctly.
- Keep a set of headphones for each student or remind them to bring their own prior to the test.
- Start the year by having the students use the iPad for their read aloud accommodations. It is difficult to switch to this accommodation once they are familiar with a teacher reading their tests.
- Keep voice recordings under five minutes long so that they load easier on Google classroom.
- Schedule the Google classroom announcements to post at the start of the class period on the day of the test, so that the students do not have access to the test prior to the test.
- Delete announcements once all of the students have taken the test so that students cannot share the tests with their peers.
