Lesson 1: What is Persuasive writing?

Persuasive Writing

Lesson 2 :

Learning intention: To create a persuasive poster to persuade others to buy your product.

Advertisement are designed to persuade people to buy a product or service.

Talk in buddies about how much persuasive language or visual cues we see everyday. Feedback to class.

Look through newspapers and magazines to find examples of persuasive words in advertising.

Success Criteria:

  • Your poster will have words such as "Special", "Introductory Offer" to appeal t0 buyers.

  • Large letters to catch the reader's attention.

  • Exclamation marks, varied print size and text type to help sell the product.

  • Special features that make your product stand out.

  • A slogan, or catch phrase to help get the buyers interest or attention to remember your product.

Lessons 3, 4 & 5:

Learning Intention - To work with your writing buddy to create a piece of persuasive writing. "Should animals be used for scientific research". (Testing products on animals)

Success Criteria:

  • Create a collaborative doc in your writing folder and share it with your writing buddy.

  • To record brainstorm ideas about the topic.

  • To use the 'Burger plan' to help sequence your writing.

  • To have a an opening statement or rhetorical question.

  • To state whether you agree or disagree.

  • To have 3 reasons fully supported by evidence.

Lessons 6, 7 & 8:

Learning Intention: To write an independent piece of persuasive writing stating whether you agree or disagree with the following statement.

Lessons: 9 & 10

Learning Intention: To publish your price of persuasive writing on to a Google slide and post to your blog with quality stems.

Success Criteria:

  • Publishing will include a title, each paragraph on it's own slide, opening and closing statements, and a reference page.

  • Writing is the main focus on the slide (think about the background you choose)

  • To include pictures where appropriate.

  • To post the finished piece of publishing to your Blog with quality stems. Remember to to include a rich reflection of the persuasive writing process.

  • Comment on your buddies blog.

  • Link your completed blog post here.

Lesson: 11

Learning Intention: To write a recount about a moment in time

Success Criteria - to write an informative and descriptive recount that paints a picture in the reader's mind. Writing must include planning, correct tense, use of punctuation and a variety of sentence starters.

  • Record key information in a brainstorm; who, what, when, where.

  • Title, Date, 1, 2, 3 Planning in Google Doc or Writing book.

  • To include a variety of language features;

                • Past tense

                • Include senses (hear, feel, see, smell and taste)

                • Descriptive (adjectives-describing words or verbs-doing words)

                • Paragraphs

                • Punctuation (full stops, capital letters, comma, speech marks, question mark)

                • Simile (compare something to something else using like or as)

                • Full sentences that make sense

                • WOW or rich words

                • Sizzling start and clever conclusion

                • Facts

                • Alliteration

                • Onomatopoeia (sound)

                • Adverbs (ly)

                • Nouns (names)

                • Spaces between our kupu
