Course Navigation

Navigating This Website

This website is designed to be a resource for you before, during, and after your course. The pages can be viewed sequentially (using the next and back buttons at the bottom of each page) for a virtual instructional experience.

If this is your first time here, start with The AIARE Framework page. It is the foundation of the Decision Making in Avalanche Terrain program and your key to turn each trip in the backcountry into a learning experience.

If you are on this site during or after your course, you may wish to drive your learning experience by jumping around to topics of interest or areas in which you have the most questions. Use the menu at the left side of the page (or the pancake menu at the top for tablets and mobile devices) to navigate through the chapters of The AIARE Framework. The chapters are nested; don't forget to use the drop downs if you can't find the topic you are looking for.

While PREPARE is the usually presented as the beginning of the AIARE Framework, we present the daily routines of PLAN, RIDE, DEBRIEF first on this website to provide background information on the what and why of the routines of PREPARE for those who are navigating through this site sequentially and are learning about The AIARE Framework for the first time.
