This course includes an overview of technical theatre and the beginning study of construction, painting and operation of scenery, properties, lighting instruments, makeup, sound, and public relations programs. First year in the program, regardless of grade level.
Prerequisites: Before a student can advance to the next-level theatre course, they must complete any previous-level theatre course.
NOTE: Attendance at performances and rehearsals outside school hours is required and included in grades. In addition to the regular curriculum, students will be required to complete extra work for weighted credit. Within one theatre strand, students are encouraged to follow the sequence of courses to complete a Humanities and Fine Arts endorsement. A yearly course fee of $15 is required of all theatre students to supplement the cost of additional class materials, student directed performances, and Crockett Theatre student events.

Levels 2 thru 4 become increasingly more area focused as students select a primary area of interest in technical theatre such as Scenic Construction, Scenic painting, Lighting or Audio Engineer, Costumer, Properties Construction and Stage Management. This class is one of two after school classes which serves as a companion class to the Varsity Technical Team Class. This class is a required class for the Varsity Team. It meets every other day after school. All Technical Production; including practical execution of on and off campus theatrical performances, on campus Dance, Choir, Talent Show, Mr. Cougar and other special events such as pep rallies and sport event support throughout the year are part of this project based class. Attendance after school is mandatory.

This class is the second of two after school classes primarily for the Varsity Technical Team Class but is not required. It meets every other day after school, opposite of the Production Class. This class covers advanced stagecraft methods and practices. Topics covered are varied but can include Live Audio Mixing, Editing, Costume Construction and Patterning, Special Effects Makeup, Scenic Painting, Rigging, Properties Creation, Automated Lighting Control and Programming, CAD/Hand Drafting and Advanced Construction Techniques. Attendance after school is mandatory and course is primarily project based.

This Honors course covers the advanced topic of Theatrical Design. Students will focus on collaboration with the instructor to design Scenic, Lighting, Audio and/or Costume Designs for Thespian Competition, UIL competition and Crockett Performances. This course is designed to help the young theatrical artist establish a portfolio and a body of work for the student to present for colleges to view and critique, for entrance and potential scholarship opportunities.
