An overview of theatre arts, basic acting techniques, and introduction to stagecraft. Courses includes instruction in acting techniques, stagecraft, use of body and voice, characterization, interpretation of scripts and characters, production style, career education, and a variety of theatrical forms. JV and Upper-level students will have the opportunity to study acting technique, dance, play analysis, theatre for children, musical theatre, movement for the stage, film, and career options. In addition to the regular curriculum, JV and Upper level students will be required to complete extra work for weighted credit.
Prerequisites: Before a student can advance to the next-level theatre course, they must complete any previous-level theatre course.
NOTE: Attendance at performances is required of all theatre students. Student's in after school credit classes (Theatre Production and Musical Theatre) are required to audition and participate in Crockett Theatre season performances. In addition to the regular curriculum, students will be required to complete extra work for weighted credit. Within one theatre strand, students are encouraged to follow the sequence of courses to complete a Humanities and Fine Arts endorsement. A course fee of $15 is required of all theatre students to supplement the cost of additional class materials, student directed performances, and Crockett Theatre student events/parties.

In addition to the regular curriculum, students will be required to complete performance work for weighted credit. Student's in Varsity are required to also enroll in after school credit classes (Theatre Production and Musical Theatre) and are required to participate in Crockett Theatre season performances. Year 3 and 4 are Honors Credits.

This class is one of two after school classes which serves as a companion class to the Varsity Class. This class is a required class for the Varsity Team. It meets every other day after school. All Productions; including practical execution of on and off campus theatrical performances, UIL One Act Play and Austin Heller Awards Musical competition and other special events throughout the year are part of this class. Attendance after school is mandatory.
Prerequisites: First year requires interview/permission from Teacher. Before a student can advance to the next-level theatre course, they must complete any previous-level theatre course.

This class is one of two after school classes which serves as a companion class to the Varsity Class. This class is a required class for the Varsity Team. It meets every other day after school. Although it is primarily focused on Musical performance and audition technique, the class will focus on some stage movement. Students will be required to audition and perform as part of the yearly musical production competition for the Austin Heller Awards Musical competition, the end of year Musical Cabaret and other special events throughout the year. Attendance after school is mandatory.

This Honors course covers an introduction to directing. Students will focus on collaboration with the instructor with the Acting I and JV classes to create in- class performances and culminate with a second year final Crockett Senior Directed Performance. The Senior Directed performance is a 30-40 minute cutting of a show by the second year director in collaboration with technical students. The show is student selected, student directed and student performed. It serves as a Senior Capstone Project. This course is designed to help the young theatrical artist establish a portfolio and a body of work for the student to present for colleges to view and critique, for entrance and potential scholarship opportunities.
