Library Subs
Librarians are eligible for short- and long-term substitutes. Library substitutes are paid the same rate as teacher substitutes.
Any current AISD substitute can pick up a library sub assignment. No special qualifications are required for short-term library sub assignments. However, campuses that will have a long-term sub in the library should contact Birdie Zamora (Teams, email, or 512-414-1700 x72294) to request a short in-person training session. For more information on what to do if your campus is without a librarian for an extended period of time, click HERE.
Current AISD subs who are interested in library sub assignments are encouraged to fill out THIS FORM; your information will be shared with campus librarians who are in need of a sub.
If you know somebody who wants to sub in the library but is not a current AISD sub, encourage them to apply online. Former AISD employees (e.g., a retired AISD librarian or teacher) will not need to submit transcripts or other such documentation, per the sub office, but they still need to fill out the application and go through the process.
Info for SUBS
Info for LIBRARYISTS
Librarians may request a full or half-day substitute. (See below for details.)
You can pre-arrange a specific substitute if you wish; if you don't, any current AISD substitute can pick up a library sub assignment.
It is important to leave simple but clear instructions for library substitutes, including campus-specific information on schedules, expectations, and routines. Click on "Info for Subs" for some general resources such as WorkFlows basics.
Subs should only be given the AIDE login for SIRSI except in special circumstances. (Contact Birdie with any questions.)
How to Request a Sub:
Request a substitute by “creating an absence” in ERP and checking the “Substitute Needed” box. Click HERE for detailed instructions on this process.
If you have already made arrangements with a particular substitute, follow the instructions to enter that person's information. Once your absence is approved, the substitute will see the assignment in their Pre-Arranged Jobs section in the Substitute Management Center. If you have trouble with this process, ask your campus sub coordinator to go in and assign the person. If that doesn't work, your campus sub coordinator should contact the substitute office for help.
If you have not lined up a particular sub, any substitute can pick up the assignment.
