Library Substitutes
About Library Substitutes:
Librarians may request a full or half-day substitute if they will be out (see "procedures" below).
You can pre-arrange a specific substitute (see "procedures" below).
Library substitutes are paid at the same rate as teacher substitutes.
There are no specific qualifications or special training required to be a library substitute. Any current AISD substitute can pick up a library sub assignment.
Only persons who are current AISD substitutes can pick up library sub assignments. If you know somebody who wants to sub for you but is not a current AISD sub, they will need to put in an application online. If they have worked for AISD previously (e.g., a retired AISD librarian or teacher) they should not need to submit transcripts or other such documentation, per the sub office, but they still need to do the online application and go through the process.
If you have trouble with pre-arranging a sub, see if your campus sub coordinator can go in and assign the person. If that doesn't work, your campus sub coordinator should contact the substitute office for help.
Procedures for Getting a Substitute:
Request a substitute by “creating an absence” in ERP and checking the “Substitute Needed” box. Click HERE for detailed instructions on this process.
If you have already made arrangements with a particular substitute, follow the instructions to enter that person's information. Once your absence is approved, the substitute will see the assignment in their Pre-Arranged Jobs section in the Substitute Management Center.
If you have not lined up a particular sub, any substitute can pick up the assignment.
Please note that subs you don’t know should only be given the AIDE login for SIRSI.
