If you are using a MacOS device, you will need to update your screen sharing permissions to ensure you can share your screen during a session and while being Proctored.
You MUST have these settings in place BEFORE joining a testing session.
You may get this notification if you attempt to share your screen and have not adjusted your settings prior to joining your session. Clicking "Open System Settings" will begin the process listed below.
To allow screen sharing, click on the Apple icon and select “System Preferences” from the drop down menu.
A new menu will open. On the left panel, click on the “Security & Privacy” option. The icon is a blue square with a white hand. (If you are using an older version of MacOS, the icon may appear to be a silver house with a padlock in the center.)
The center panel will change. From this menu, select the “Screen & System Audio Recording” option. The icon will be a red square with a white target in the center.
Check to see that Google Chrome is enabled or switched on.
This will allow the applications to record the contents of your screen, even while using other apps.
If the application is not listed in this menu, click the + sign, search for the application and add it to the list.
Click the plus button to add Chrome to the list. (If the button is "greyed out" click the padlock icon and enter your password to access the add button)
Use the search option to find the Google Chrome application and add it.
Click the application icon.
Click the "Open" button to add the application to the "Screen & System Audio Recording" list.
Ensure Google Chrome is toggled to the "on" position.
WHEN ADDING GOOGLE CHROME, THIS PROCESS WILL CLOSE THE BROWSER AND RESET IT.
A prompt may appear asking you to quit the browser to apply the settings. Click "Quit & Reopen" or “Quit Now”. Doing this will close your app or browser in order to save & update your settings. If you are in a session, you must reopen your browser and rejoin the appointment before the session begins.
If you are having technical difficulties sharing your screen and both "Google Chrome" and "Class" were listed with a blue check mark, you should uncheck them and save your settings. Consider restarting your computer. Next follow the steps listed above to re-allow permissions to "Chrome" and "Class"
Once you have made changes to your settings we recommend restarting your computer in order to update the changes. Please be sure to allow enough time before joining a session to do this so that you are not late to your appointment. Late students are not permitted to join the session.
