You've worked with the SI Leader first as a student and now you work with them in a more professional capacity. They understand the material you teach, and how you teach it. This makes your SI Leader uniquely qualified to work with your course.
We encourage the SI Leaders to meet and chat with you regularly to discuss how sessions are going as well as identify areas in which your students could use more help.
Below are some of the guidelines we give our SI Leaders for their professional relationships with their faculty members....
Your faculty member you support is your biggest advocate for support in the course. Your faculty member can help you advertise your sessions, and provide insight on what students are struggling with the most.
Ask your faculty member to make in class announcements to promote your sessions
Chat with your faculty regularly, provide them with info on how sessions are going
Ask your faculty for resources to share in sessions, like worksheets or practice exams
Grade papers/homework/exams for your faculty
Teach for your faculty member if they aren't able to make it to class
Proctor exams for your faculty member (SACS Violation)
Meet with your SI anywhere other than an ACC campus
