Withdrawals
Students who are dropped by faculty due to non-attendance in Spring 2020 or Summer 2020 will receive the appropriate refund in effect at the time of withdrawal. State refund policy determines the refund percentage based on the date of the drop for the course. Students will not be offered any additional tuition refund or be allowed to retake the course at no cost. As with all students, there are "extenuating circumstances, medical appeal" options that students may pursue where appropriate.
Two Covid-19 Withdrawal Codes have been added to the withdrawal system for students who withdraw this Spring or Summer due to Covid-19 reasons. The codes are:
It is important that students use these codes if these are the reasons for Withdrawal. By using these codes, the withdrawals will not count toward their six-withdrawal limit, and students receiving Financial Aid will not be required to repay their unused financial aid under Department of Education rules.
Students who withdraw from their courses due to Covid-19 will not receive reimbursement for the course or be allowed to retake the course at no cost.
The withdrawal codes went live in the portal on April 10, 2020. Any student-initiated withdrawals or faculty withdrawals for non-attendance between March 13 and April 10 that are related to Covid-19 will be retroactively changed to one of the Covid-19 Withdrawal Codes.
Before the last day of the grading period in Spring 2020, the Admissions & Records Office will survey all students who withdrew between March 13 and April 10, 2020 to retroactively apply Covid-19 Withdrawal Codes to the students’ records. The Financial Aid Office will simultaneously reach out to financial aid recipients who withdrew, especially because the withdrawal codes are required to ensure that the requirement to return the funds is waived for those students.
